Emma Thompson wins Best Film Actress BAFTA in 1996 for her role as Elinor Dashwood in Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility, which also won the award for Best Film. Emma Thompson wrote the screenplay for Sense & Sensibility, for which she won both a BAFTA and a US Academy Award that year.
